Customer Reviews: Yes and no June 20, 2006 bon francais (Melbourne, Australia) This is a book which leaves me with very mixed feelings. It is hard to find, and can be very expensive - yet it is an A4 print which looks like a photocopy. It is profusely illustrated, but much of the detail of the photographs is lost in the black and white prints. It has plenty of detail about the furniture and interior design elements - but when the author ventures to outline the history of the period, he makes errors which would embarrass a tour guide. (The worst example of this was his description of Louis XIII and Anne of Austria having two daughters, Christine and Henriette Marie, the latter becoming the wife of Charles I. The two ladies were Louis's sisters; he had no daughters!) So I cannot seriously recommend this book unless you can buy it for about $20 at the most.
